Our Contribution
The Kichanga Foundation
The island of Zanzibar is heavily dependent on tourism. We founded the Kichanga foundation to further support residents of the island, and particularly our colleagues and employees without whom we wouldn’t be able to offer the services we do.
The Kichanga Foundation is supported by regular contributions from Kichanga Lodge, its sister hotel Dongwe Ocean View and our world-famous restaurant The Rock of Zanzibar.
The foundation built and continues to fund the local Michamvi school. Additionally, we have on-going programmes which teach life skills such as swimming. Yes, many Zanzibaris, despite living next to the ocean, are not to taught to swim as a matter of course. Read more here.
Each and every guest staying with us, and especially those who have booked directly on our website, helps many others on this magnificent piece of paradise. Thank you.
